Japan -Day3- Ueno/New Year Countdown

It's new year's eve today! woke up rather early.. at about 10am.. today Ernest & I will be going to Ueno without Toru.. this is a picture of him.. haha~
It's very very cold today.. and our stomach's empty :( We went to try udon at one of the train stations..

It's about $9.. but it's so nice! the soup base just tasted authentic! yumz...
Ueno is very crowded! can't walk at all.. there's even police doing crowd control.. however, I still manage to bring ernest to the ever famous 1000yen chocolate stall.. and we bought 1 packet each.. will be back to buy more on the last day.. my craving for chocolate increased tremendously.. issit due to the cold weather? hmmm...
we shopped til about 6plus, then we gotta go back home.. because... Toru told us to be home at about 7pm as we'll be going to his friend's house for countdown.. took this photo on the way to his friend's house...He bought "Dumbo" for his friend..and his friend put it on top of his mixer.. so cute!
his friends are preparing the food.. 4 guys friends.. Ernest was looking forward to seeing some girls though...hee... they were all very hospitable..
Nice warm steamboat for dinner! looking forward to a hearty meal! and..japanese guys really drink alot.. Toru has like 3 cans of beer, and dunno how many cups of sake..i gave half my bottle of beer to him..too full!
The host.. serving us food.. they all call him "Eboy".. apparently, his english is not bad! Toru said his father is an english teacher!
amazed by the crabs! it's all shelled! i remember my jap aunt told me that crabs in japan are all "de-shelled".. finally i get to see it with my own eyes..
it's so easy to get the flesh out! i think Singapore should also do the same..hee~
they said this is a rather rare sake..and it's nice.. drank quite abit.. share with Toru of course..
"Eboy" dropped something on the floor and he gave this expression...cute~ he's 27 years ols by the way...
Heard that his friends are all musicians.. his brother plays some chinese orchestra instruments and cello.. anyway, it's damn cool to watch him play with this mixer..
went to the shrine at about 130am .. japanese goes to the shrine on auspicious days to pray for good fortune...etc... and these are amulets..
those amulets last for 1 year only..and the following year, pple bring the amulets back to the shrine to burn them.. and proceed on to get new ones for the new year...
Toru teaching Ernest how to scoop water from the dragon's mouth.. use the water to wash hands and then..wash the mouth..
we throw 100yen into some pot.. then wish for good luck..it's quite eerie..i mean... i haven't exactly been into a shrine/temple.. so.. i didn't wish for anything.. just said "in Jesus name, amen!" :)
pple hang their fortune readings on the tree... and it's bring them good luck all year round.. i paid 100yen too.. but i didn't hang mine on the tree... i brought the fortune slip home for souvenier!
went back to Eboy's home after this.. hang around til 6am.. reached home at about 8am and zonked out right away...
zZZzzzZzzzzZZzzz~
